Toys

Shaun just noticed this morning that Cecilia is reaching and grabbing her toys now. It was a big surprise to me. I think she has kinda been doing this for a while now and I just didn't notice. It has developed slowly. To begin with she accidentally hit them as she flung her arms around in joy. But look at these pictures, she is totally doing it on purpose. She can actually grab them! It is a testament to me that time flies by and I need to pay closer attention.

Baby Photo's

Last week Shaun and I took Cecilia to get some professional photos taken. It is the first time we have done that and probably should have done it sooner. It was the day after we got back from DC and her schedule was still messed up. She fell asleep in the car on the way up there and of course woke up the minute we got there. So needless to say she was a little cranky. I was a little frustrated because I see her so happy all of the time, and the one time we needed her to be happy and smile a lot, she was not having it. Oh well, comes with the territory I hear. The photographer said she still got some good shots. She posted a few on her blog, here. So check it out. Cecilia looks adorable. I can't wait to see them all!

Washington D.C.

Shaun and I had the opportunity to go to Washington DC last weekend. It was our first major trip with the baby. She did pretty well for missing so many naps, only cried a few times. Shaun's brother, Mike recently got a job as a foreign service agent. It was quite a process to get in and tons are turned down. We've loved to hear all about the process. He went to DC in June to begin his training. He was in a class of 98 people and there were 100 places hiring. They had the opportunity to rank each of the positions high, medium or low. On Monday he found out where he was going to be spending his first post, which will be two years. They have a ceremony where they hand you the flag for the country of where you are going. Family is invited and this is how you find out your first post. Very adventurous. So Shaun and I went to DC for flag day. Here is Mike getting his flag.

This flag represents... Drum roll...
Caracas, Venezuela!
He was really excited about the position. It will be a great way for him to learn Spanish and the position is an excellent one. Yeah for Mike!
Here he is with Shaun and Cecilia.

While we were in DC we were also able to tour the Capital.

And go to the temple of which Shaun's grandpa was one of the architects.

We had a great time in DC. Next trip Oregon.

The Hungry Dance

Baby C used to do a jig we called The Hungry Dance. It is the cutest thing in the world and really helped me to tell when she needed nourishment. Shaun got a video of it once. I'm so glad because she doesn't do it anymore and I really miss it. It started with the right leg. She kept the beat with that leg. Then it moved to the mouth. Poke the tongue in and out like a fish. Last the arms. Every other arm back and forth, back and forth. Our cute little fish.

Sleeping Beauty

Cecilia loves to sleep (wonder where she got that from). She also really loves her swing. For some reason she will take a much better nap in it than in her crib. We are working on it. Ceci is also a talker, so much so that she likes to talk in her sleep. Shaun and I had a hard time getting used to it which is why she didn't last long in our room (I felt really guilty about it but I'm over it now). One day I got a video of her napping in her favorite place talking/singing in her sleep. Here it is.

Scream for Joy

I love my daughter. She loves to smile and talk. Recently she started to scream for joy. It cracks Shaun and I up. Today she took two very long naps and was so excited when she woke up. She also had an amazing bed head, best yet.

I caved

Many people have told me I should start a blog. Everybody is doing it. I've always said I would never update it because I don't have anything to write about. Well that thing to write about has come, almost four months ago. Baby C discovers something new every time we turn around and I want to share with the world, or maybe just my close friends and family. So here I am, starting a family blog. Shaun will post too, but the starting message is all mine :)
